Lunar Net, for Vivid Sydney

Fishing at night has a special romantic quality – many of us remember warm summer evenings, using nets to gather prawns on the beach during the moons cycle. Wading through warm water, with the elusive prey just out of reach, the nets gleaming in flashlight thrown into relief against inky, black water. In this light art installation lengths of reflective net are suspended under wharves, to create an undulating, ghostly light sculpture, shimmering with colour-changing LED, and moving gently with the tides. Artists Ruth McDermott and Ben Baxter.
